Apeks Regulators
Nitrox Regulator vs non Nitrox Regulator?

I am thinking of picking up a new regulator but I am unsure as to which is more important. I really like the Apeks XTX100 regulator but they make 2 versions: the traditional version and a Nitrox version. Does the Nitrox version work with regular air? and is there much of a price difference between the two?

Yes a regulator that is used with nitrox can also be used with air, and vice versa. Virtually any regulator can be used with nitrox mixes up to 40% O2, and that includes the standard XTX100 model. As far as I can tell the Nitrox model is O2 clean which means it can be used for mixtures up to 100%, and unless you’re a tech diver planning to use the regulator for deco I would think it isn’t something you would need.

I recommend going with the standard model. If you want to go tech in the future and use mixtures over 40% you can have the regulator converted to oxygen service later.
